Calvary Theater
Calvary Theater has been producing broadway-style productions for over 25 years. Our cast and crew consist of over 150 committed members of our church community who work hard to put on two shows each year — one for Christmas and one for Easter. We open our doors to the North Shore and surrounding communities so that all are welcome to join us for our performances and experience the gospel come to life through musical theater!
A year at Calvary Theater
How auditions work
Acting auditions
Auditions happen online — you use your phone or computer to film a short video of yourself. Audition scripts for every role are in the audition platform, and full role descriptions are available there as well.
Singing auditions
Use accompaniment or sing a cappella — any song you're comfortable with, one minute or less. Everyone who wants to join the cast is encouraged to submit a singing audition, since almost all actors will be in the choir.
Kid auditions
All children participating submit a singing audition — any favorite song will do! For kids ages 6–11, a parent volunteers on the Kids Team to serve with our leaders (parents in the cast are exempt).
Crew — behind the scenes
Stage crew, makeup, costumes, set and construction, and more. Register the same way and choose the “Crew” option with your team. A headshot is still required; submit a video introducing yourself!
How to submit your audition
This year, we're using our NEW audition platform, Half Hour! Follow the steps below to submit your audition for The Gospel According to Scrooge 2026.
- Visit the Half Hour audition page with the button below.
- Enter your email address. If this is your first time using Half Hour, make sure you select “I need to create an account.”
- Check your email for a code — Half Hour will send a verification code to the email address you provided. Enter that code when prompted.
- Follow the prompts on Half Hour! Once you're logged in, Half Hour will guide you through the process and give you access to the audition portal for The Gospel According to Scrooge 2026. From there, simply follow the instructions to complete and submit your audition.
We can't wait to see your audition! And don't forget your English accent!
Registration tips
You will use your email to log in. Parents can create a profile and then create as many kids' profiles as needed within their parent account. Record videos with your phone held horizontally, do a test run, and watch it back before submitting. Include a recent, clear headshot of just you.
